AutoDesk to Bentley Migration Phase II

Denver, Colorado

2004-2005

This was an "interesting" contract.  Our role was to setup a MicroStation/InRoads environment for a DOT that was previously an AutoDesk shop.

Bentley had performed the Phase I settings migration.  Bohannon Huston (BHI) had won Phase II.

This contract was different from OkDOT in the sense that it was "administration heavy."  Many teams, committees, Project Managers and project leads.  More formal.  Barb Skalko was the local BHI Project Lead.  My role was Technical Lead for BHI.

Whenever there is an in-process contract handover, things can be delicate.

My Bentley counterpart in this somewhat adversarial role was Dan Ahern.  A couple of years later Dan recruited me to work for Bentley, where I worked with him for about ten years.  Despite our opposing positions in Colorado, to my delight, our vision was remarkably aligned for almost a decade at Bentley.   Our relationships are long in this community.
